SENIOR SIMULATOR TECHNICIAN

Supporting leading F1 teams and Formula 1 Management across all 24 races, our work spans hospitality suites, paddocks, garages, pit walls, fan zones, and factory environments.
Alongside motorsport, we deliver technical production and live event solutions across concerts, festivals, theatre, conferences, and venues including the Southbank Centre and Barbican. Based in Banbury, we are a fast-growing company working in some of the most demanding and exciting live production environments in the world.
JOB DESCRIPTION
You’ll act as the senior technical point of contact on-site, mentoring junior technicians, owning client relationships, and ensuring simulator systems perform flawlessly at the highest level of motorsport and corporate hospitality.
This is a guest-facing leadership role, you’ll be trusted to run events with minimal oversight, troubleshoot complex technical issues under pressure and represent Live Wire Simulators at the top level with F1 teams, professional drivers and VIP clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the planning, delivery and execution of high-profile simulator events, taking ownership of technical setup, on-site problem-solving and overall event success.
- Design, configure and manage networked control systems for complex multi-sim set-ups, including troubleshooting connectivity and hardware issues in real time.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients on-site, managing expectations, resolving issues quickly and identifying opportunities to add value.
- Write detailed post-event debriefs, including clear action points, technical findings and improvement recommendations for both clients and internal teams.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, playing an active role in growing repeat business and identifying new partnership opportunities.
- Contribute to the design, specification and development of new simulator builds, feeding into Live Wire’s growing simulator catalogue.
- Oversee maintenance schedules across the global simulator fleet, including upgrades, calibration and care of delicate components.
- Communicate effectively with the wider UK-based team while travelling, ensuring smooth logistics, stock management and reporting from remote locations.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and technical upskilling of the wider simulator team as the business grows.
REQUIREMENTS
- 4+ years of experience driving, operating or building race cars / simulators, including demonstrable experience in a senior, lead or supervisory capacity.
- A diploma or degree in Motorsport Engineering or equivalent preferred.
- Advanced understanding of racing principles, driving technique, car set-up and data analysis.
- Strong experience with networked systems, including diagnosing and resolving connectivity issues under time pressure.
- Confident and adaptable across varying computer systems, including Windows and Mac.
- Excellent communication and client management skills; comfortable representing the company to senior stakeholders, F1 personnel and VIP guests.
- Interest in mentoring or training future junior team members.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel globally, sometimes at short notice.
- A good level of physical fitness; happy to lift, build and transport sim equipment.
